Providence Center is committed to supporting revitalization efforts in our community, working with other organizations, residents, and law enforcement to help insure that our neighborhoods are safe places for families. We have been particularly involved with Fairhill Square, our local park. We participate in Families of Fairhill Square, organizing clean ups and supporting resources like a Farmer’s Market. We also organize Fall and Spring Children’s Fairs, bringing together local youth organizations to get the kids out playing in the park, creating art, and trying out new games. In Spring, children come out to our community garden and get their hands dirty planting seeds that will grow into vegetable for them to taste and take home.

Women’s Prayer Group and Retreats

Neighborhood women meet once per month with a Holy Child Sister at Providence Center for spiritual guidance and emotional support. Retreats are held twice per year in Spring and Fall in Stone Harbor, New Jersey in both Spanish and English. In follow-up evaluations, women often speak about how the peace, support, and comfort gleaned from the retreat experience help them return to their family and jobs with a more hopeful and positive spirit.
